Oil transportation via Azerbaijan’s main pipelines up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13. The volume of oil transportation via Azerbaijan’s main pipelines stood at around 19.650 million tons in the first half of 2023, as compared to 17.747 million tons in the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

As such, the oil supply rose by 10.7 percent year-on-year.

The data from the State Statistical Committee reveals that 76.5 percent of the oil transportation during this period accounted for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which supplied 15.025 million tons from January through June 2023. This is while in the first six months of 2022, BTC accounted for 79.5 percent of the overall oil transportation via the main pipelines, supplying 14.111 million tons.

About 83.7 percent of oil transported by BTC accounted for Azerbaijan, while 16.3 percent or 2.455 million tons were oil from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

From January through June 2022, BTC transported 2.361 million tons of transit oil.

Currently, the BTC pipeline mainly transports crude oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields and condensate from Shah Deniz. Additionally, oil and condensate volumes from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continue to be transported via the BTC.

The shareholders of BTC Co. are: bp (30.1%), SOCAR (25.00%), MOL (8.90%), Equinor (8.71%), TPAO (6.53%), Eni (5.00%), TotalEnergies (5.00%), ITOCHU (3.40%), INPEX (2.50%), ExxonMobil (2.50%), and ONGC Videsh (2.36%).
