ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 28. The department of Turkmenistan's Turkmennebit State Concern produced 534,000 tons of oil from January through June this year, Trend reports.
According to official data, in the reporting period, the department reduced oil production by 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
Goturdepe, a field rich in oil and gas resources, located near Turkmenistan's city of Balkanabad, is considered one of the "oldest" in Turkmenistan; the first drilling rig appeared here in 1948.
Industrial development of local deposits began in the 1960s, and 13 years ago the Northern Goturdepe field was discovered, whose reserves are estimated at 20 million tons of oil.
Turkmenistan has significant oil reserves located in various regions of the country. Oil production is an important sector of the economy of Turkmenistan and plays a key role in the national industry and exports of the country.
