BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.2. Azerbaijan's marketed natural gas production has shown significant growth, with an 8 percent increase in 2022 compared to the previous year, Trend reports.

OPEC estimates that the country produced approximately 32.323 billion standard cubic meters of marketed natural gas in 2022, in contrast to nearly 29.940 billion standard cubic meters in 2021.

This indicates steady expansion in the gas production sector over the years, as evident from the production levels of 17.800 bscm, 22.840 bscm, and 24.280 bscm in 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively. As a result, the volume of marketed natural gas production has seen a remarkable 81.6 percent increase compared to 2018.

According to Azerbaijan's energy ministry, the country's total natural gas production in 2022 reached 46.7 billion cubic meters, signifying a 6.5 percent increase of 2.9 billion cubic meters compared to 2021.

Notably, the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field contributed 13.4 billion cubic meters of gas, while the Shah Deniz field accounted for 25.2 billion cubic meters. Additionally, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) contributed 8.1 billion cubic meters to the overall gas production in the country.
