Iran aims to boost daily gas export capacity this year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Iran's gas export capacity is expected to increase to 100 million cubic meters per day in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the Executive Director of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company, Gholam Abbas Hosseini, told reporters, Trend reports.

Hosseini said that currently, gas pipelines No. 6 and 9 are being expanded in the country in this regard.

The director added that at present, 45 million cubic meters of gas are transported to Iraq, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan through Iran per day. So, Iran swaps Turkmen gas with Azerbaijan and exports gas to the other two countries.

Iran stands second in the world for gas reserves, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. Reportedly, Iran's gas production capacity is more than 1 billion cubic meters.
