BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Despite the speculation that the price of gasoline in Iran will go up, there will be no change in the price for the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 to March 19, 2024), Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said, Trend reports.
According to the minister, gas stations have cards for refueling for a number of purposes (if the car owner's fuel card is not on it, lost, etc.).
He added that the number of these cards has been reduced to some extent. Because the large number of cards resulted in the smuggling of gasoline. Also, in the state budget of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), it was mentioned that all car owners should use a personal fuel card. The reduction of the number of cards resulted in the spread of rumors about the increase in the price of gasoline in Iran.
Owji noted that each person who owns a car in Iran can buy 210 liters of gasoline with a fuel card. It is possible to buy 60 liters of gasoline for 15,000 rials (about $0.35) and 150 liters for 30,000 rials (about $0.71) per month. In some cases, when there is a need for gasoline, fuel cards provided at gas stations can be used.
The minister also pointed out that gasoline consumption in Iran has increased by 13 million liters per day on average this year compared to last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
Currently, the daily consumption of gasoline in Iran is 110 million liters.
