BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. The STAR Refinery of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye produced 14,741 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in June 2023, compared with 19,869 tons in the same month of 2022, Trend reports.

According to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), the output of this product at the refinery decreased by 25.8 percent year-on-year.

The STAR Refinery, with an investment value of $6.3 billion, was commissioned in October 2018. In addition, about $3.3 billion of the project cost was covered by loans.

The annual refining capacity of the STAR Refinery is about 10 million tons. The plant is capable of processing 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

SOCAR Türkiye plans to suspend the operation of the STAR refinery for maintenance in 2024. The refinery will be suspended for the first time after commissioning. First of all, scheduled repairs will be carried out. As a result of the measures taken to date, it is planned to increase the frequency of shutdowns of the refinery for repairs to five years, which will save up to $40 million.
