BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. The III Azerbaijani-Turkish Energy Forum and the I International Conference "Nakhchivan - Green Energy Zone" were held this week, Trend reports.
The forum featured signing of several important documents.
The Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar signed protocol of the III Azerbaijani-Türkish Energy Forum.
The protocol stated the commitment of the parties to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy.
During a joint briefing with Shahbazov, Bayraktar said that Türkiye will complete the work on the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline next year.
The briefing also pointed out Azerbaijan's cooperation with TotalEnergies and Nobel Energy companies to build new solar power plants with a total capacity of 650 MW.
Director of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources (SAARES) under the Ministry of of Azerbaijan Javid Abdullayev and CEO of Az Czech Engineering Milan Pavlicek signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of renewable energy sources.
The memorandum envisages the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of up to 500 MW and additional energy infrastructure in the Sadarak district of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as increasing the export of electricity to Türkiye.
Besides, the SAARES Director Javid Abdullayev and the General Director of ACWA Power for Azerbaijan and Türkiye Selin Guven signed a roadmap for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project and the 200 MW onshore wind power project.
Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) General Director Orhan Kaldirim and AzerEnergy Vice President Vugar Shahmuradov have signed a roadmap on the realization of joint projects for 2023–2025.
Speaking at the III Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Fuad Najafli said that connecting the republic to the network of the European Association of Transmission System Operators of Electricity (ENTSO-E) will increase the potential for production and export of electricity to Türkiye and further to Europe.
Besides, addressing the General Debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said that 10 European countries will become Azerbaijani gas recipients soon.
He also noted that the clean environment and green growth became one of the five priority areas of Azerbaijan's new national development strategy.
Furthermore, the TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) AG consortium said this week that the TAP has initiated the civil construction work associated with the preparation of tie-ins.
"This ongoing work is scheduled to be complete during Q4 2023. Following this, the main construction works will commence with further civil work for foundations," said the consortium.
This week, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel said that Kazakhstan plans to increase oil supplies through Azerbaijan.
In addition, the ambassador noted that transport and logistics cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will be at the center of cooperation between the countries.
Besides, KazTransOil JSC (an oil pipeline company of Kazakhstan that provides services for transporting oil to the domestic market, for transit purposes, and for export) has shared plans to send 1.4 million tons of oil to the Baku International Sea Trade Port.
President of Vortex Tools company Alan Miller expressed the company's interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
"We consider Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to be valuable partners in the oil and gas extraction market," noted Miller.
According to him, Vortex Tools company specializing in optimizing oil and gas production is currently in negotiations with national and international energy companies in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Anton Kosach emphasized the need for Azerbaijan to double its efforts in transitioning to renewable energy.
A source at the government of Slovenia noted this week that the country supports gas deliveries via the Southern Gas Corridor and all efforts that contribute to diversifying gas supply sources to Central and Southeastern Europe.Начало формы
This week it was also reported that Azerbaijan and Singapore will cooperate in the renewable energy sector.
In this regard, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the CEO of Trafigura Pte Ltd Jeremy Weir.
Additionally, the CEO of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation OJSC Kamran Nabizade signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Weir.
The signing of these documents will enable cooperation in the fields of renewable and green energy, decarbonization, aluminum production, and other areas.
