BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 23. The Danan oil field in Iran’s western province of Ilam has increased its crude oil output by 11,000 barrels per day, Executive Director of Iran’s Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), Mehdi Heydari said, Trend reports.
Heydari noted that 11 new wells were drilled and launched in the field, bringing the total number of wells to 20.
He added that the current production level of the field is 19,000 barrels per day, up from 8,000 barrels per day before the expansion.
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) signed a contract with the MAPNA Group in 2019 to maintain and develop the production of the Danan oil field. The contract aimed to boost production by 10,000 barrels per day. The Danan oil field, which was discovered in 2007 and started production in 2014, is expected to reach a production capacity of 25,000 barrels per day when fully developed.
The Danan oil field is operated by the West Oil and Gas Production Company (WOGPC), one of the three subsidiaries of the ICOFC. The WOGPC covers the provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam, and Lorestan in Iran and has a daily production capacity of 165,000 barrels of crude oil and 7 million cubic meters of gas.
The ICOFC has 84 oil and gas fields in 11 provinces of Iran, of which 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields have been developed. The ICOFC can produce about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas per day.
