Azerbaijan boosts natural gas exports to Türkiye

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. In September 2023, Azerbaijan experienced a notable surge in its natural gas exports to Türkiye, marking a remarkable 25.06 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022, Trend reports via Türkiye’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The export volume rose from 710.48 million cubic meters to 888.52 million cubic meters.

This surge propelled Azerbaijan to secure the second position in the ranking of natural gas exporters to Türkiye during the specified reporting period. Russia claimed the top spot, emerging as the largest exporter of natural gas to Türkiye in September 2023, with a substantial volume exceeding 1.902 billion cubic meters. This represented a significant uptick of 23.53 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

Taking the third position in the ranking was Algeria, contributing 399.57 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas. This marked a notable increase of 34.76 percent from the figures recorded in September 2022, which stood at 296.51 million cubic meters.

During the same period, Türkiye demonstrated a modest decrease of 3.22 percent in its overall gas imports compared to September 2022, registering a decline from 3.401 billion cubic meters to 3.292 billion cubic meters. Notably, pipeline imports accounted for 2.791 billion cubic meters, reflecting a 10.12 percent decrease, while liquefied natural gas imports increased by 69.01 percent to reach 501.14 million cubic meters.
