ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 4. Romania highly appreciates the cooperation with Turkmenistan in the energy sector, considering it as a key component of the bilateral dialogue essential for the development of regional cooperation, a source in the Ministry of Energy of Romania told Trend.

The ministry noted that there is significant potential for deepening relations with Turkmenistan based on traditional ties, which is especially important given Romania's rich 150-year experience in the oil and gas industry.

As part of this, it was noted that during this period the country was actively engaged in the production of equipment for the exploration, production, processing and transportation of oil and gas, and also made a significant contribution to research and development in this area.

"Romanian-Turkmen bilateral relations operate based on the Joint Declaration signed on July 22, 2009, in the city of Ashgabat, by the Presidents of Romania and Turkmenistan, which includes the establishment of a mutually beneficial partnership as the main element of the Romanian-Turkmen cooperation," the ministry noted.

Furthermore, the ministry added that Romania supports the expansion of cooperation in the academic field for the training of specialists in the field of oil and gas on the basis of a Cooperation Agreement concluded between the Petroleum and Gas University of Ploiesti (Romania) and the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (Turkmenistan).

Meanwhile, in early October of this year, representatives of Turkmenistan and Romania held talks on further development of cooperation in the energy sector within the framework of a meeting of the Turkmen-Romanian working commission, where a high level of interstate cooperation based on the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit was noted.

The Turkmen side stressed that one of the key aspects of Turkmenistan's energy strategy is the further modernization and technical equipment of oil and gas and petrochemical industry enterprises and the implementation of projects for the construction of modern gas processing complexes, including the production of gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, polyethylene, polypropylene, and other gas chemical products.
