BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 1. President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijani (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf and Chairman of the Russian PJSC Gazprom's Board Alexei Miller held talks on seasonal swap operations, Trend reports via a source familiar with the matter.

“The negotiations between the leaders of SOCAR and PJSC Gazprom that took place on February 28 aimed to agree on a number of working aspects of long-standing cooperation. One of these points was seasonal gas swap operations between Russia and Azerbaijan,” the source explained.

The source reminded that Gazprom’s subsidiary, Gazprom Export LLC, had a contract with SOCAR for the purchase and sale of gas from November 15, 2022 to April 1, 2023 for a volume of up to one billion cubic meters of gas.

“The Russian side gave us gas, and the main volume - in the autumn of 2022. We are returning the seasonal swap volume to them,” the source noted, without specifying other details.

To note, Gazprom has had a representative office in Baku since December 2018.

SOCAR has been cooperating with Gazprom since 2000.

Since 2019, cooperation between Gazprom and SOCAR has been determined by the periodic need of the parties to exchange gas.
