BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Bulgartransgaz EAD, the state-owned operator of Bulgaria's natural gas transmission system, has initiated a significant public procurement process in compliance with the Public Procurement Act, Trend reports via Bulgartransgaz.
This procurement, titled "Investment design, supply of the necessary materials and equipment, construction and commissioning of construction," pertains to the expansion of the control system at the Kardam compressor station.
The decision to embark on this procurement follows the resolution passed by the National Assembly on March 14, 2024, endorsing the collaborative efforts of gas transmission operators from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Moldova, known as the Vertical Corridor initiative.
The expansion project aims to bolster the gas transmission infrastructure of Bulgartransgaz by augmenting transmission capacities between Greece and Bulgaria and Bulgaria and Romania. This enhancement will facilitate the transportation of additional volumes of natural gas from dependable sources. Key components of the project include the construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline, spanning approximately 61 kilometers from Rupcha to Vetrino, and the retrofitting of the Compressor Station Kardam to enhance its control system capacity.
Upon completion, the modernized infrastructure is expected to provide an additional transmission capacity from Bulgaria to Romania of 137.2 GWh/d, resulting in a total technical capacity of 295 GWh/d.
The estimated value of the announced public procurement for the expansion of the Compressor Station Kardam's control system amounts to BGN 15,000,000.00 (fifteen million Bulgarian Lev), exclusive of VAT.
Selection of the most economically advantageous offer for each position will be determined based on a best value for money criterion, evaluating factors such as proposed implementation strategies and pricing.
Funding for the procurement activities will be in accordance with decisions made by the 49th National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria on March 14, 2024, pertaining to actions related to the Vertical Corridor initiative endorsed by gas transmission operators across multiple countries.
