BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. A grant award agreement for the Strengthening Gas Infrastructure project has been signed in Croatia, Trend reports via Croatia’s Plinacro company.

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Damir Habijan, Deputy Director of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, Mirko Budisa, and President of the Plinacro Management Board Ivica Arar, attended the signing ceremony.

The contract allocates a non-refundable grant of 533 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism to Plinacro. This funding will facilitate the construction of four vital gas pipelines connecting the UPP terminal on Krk to Slovenia, Hungary, and other nations in Southeast Europe. These pipelines include Zlobin - Bosiljevo (58 kilometers), Bosiljevo - Sisak (101 kilometers), Kozarac - Sisak (21 kilometers), and Zabok - Lučko (36 kilometers).

The implementation of these pipelines is projected to bolster the technical capacity of the gas network from 2.9 to 6.1 billion cubic meters annually.

Furthermore, it will decrease reliance on Russian gas and enhance supply security for Croatia and neighboring countries, even during challenging gas supply and consumption scenarios.
