BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has announced the total volume of oil and gas production from the Deepwater Gunashli platform, which has been extracting hydrocarbons since April 2008 as part of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) project, Trend reports.
"On the occasion of the 'birthday' of the Deepwater Gunashli platform on the ACG block, we announce that this production platform has extracted 638 million barrels of oil and 18.2 billion cubic meters of gas over its entire operational period (since April 2008)," SOCAR said.
In 2023, the average oil production rate on this platform was 67,300 barrels per day.
The platform is located at a sea depth of 175 meters, and operations are conducted with 48 wells.
Overall, the ACG project operates seven production platforms, the oldest of which is the Chirag platform, where production has been ongoing since November 1997.
bp is the operator of production across the entire ACG block.
The ACG contract covers hydrocarbon extraction until the end of December 2049.
The reserves of the ACG are estimated at one billion tons of oil, with more than half of the block's resources already extracted.
