Azerbaijan boosts gasoil imports from Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 20. Azerbaijan purchased a total of more than 4,300 tons of gasoil from Turkmenistan from January through April this year, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan show that during the specified period, the volume of gasoil purchases from Turkmenistan was 10 percent higher than in the same period last year, which amounted to almost 3,900 tons.

Furthermore, in monetary terms, Azerbaijan's imports of gasoil from Turkmenistan from January through March this year amounted to almost $3.3 million, which is 6 percent more than in the same period of 2023, when it amounted to almost $3.1 million.

In general, in the first three months of this year, Turkmenistan was the only supplier of gasoil to Azerbaijan.

Last year, Azerbaijan imported approximately 28,600 tons of gasoil from Turkmenistan, valued at around $16.5 million.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the first three months of 2024 amounted to $96.9 million, which is less than half the turnover in the same period of 2023, when it amounted to $211.9 million.
