BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The STAR oil refinery of SOCAR Türkiye witnessed a substantial decrease in petroleum coke production in March 2024, down by 15.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), the refinery churned out 66,175 tons of petcoke in March this year, a notable decline from the 78,094 tons produced in the corresponding period in 2023.

The STAR refinery, with an investment cost of $6.3 billion, commenced operations in October 2018, with $3.3 billion of the project's expenses financed through loans.

Boasting an annual refining capacity of approximately 10 million tons, the plant can process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
