LOCAL COMPANY TO LAY A MAJOR PIPELINE

Local petroleum company Azpetrol is planning to complete in several months the work on construction of the second pipeline, with a rated throughout capacity of 25 million tons of crude oil to be delivered from the company’s Azertrans terminal at Sangachal with further pumping into the Baku-Ceyhan (BTC) main export route.

In the corresponding press statement, Azpetrol’s Vice President Thomas Moser assessed the availability of the second pipeline as a crucial facility for the pumping of oil вЂ" owned by the company’s existing and future customers вЂ" into the BTC system.

EncoTech company has acted as the building contractor for the project, with Khazar Deniz undertaking the duties of the general contractor and Ceng Overseas offering advisory and engineering services.

In May, Azertrans, a transportation division of Azpetrol Group, completed the construction of a 12.6-km-long pipeline linking the company’s above-mentioned terminal at Sangachal with the relevant infrastructure of Exxon Azerbaijan Limited at the AIOC-operated Sangachal terminal, a major storage and handling facility of the BTC system. The connecting pipeline has been designed for the throughput capacity of 6 million tons per year of crude oil.
