BARMEK HOLDING INTENDS TO PARTICIPATE IN PRIVATIZATION OF ENERGY DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS OF TURKEY, KYRGYZSTAN, MOLDOVA

The Barmek Holding, the operator of the energy distribution networks of Baku and Sumgayit, intends to participate in the privatization of energy distribution networks of Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova, Husseyn Arabul, the President of the Barmek Azerbaijan, told Trend in an exclusive interview.

The head of the company noted that the tender on privatization of the energy distribution networks of Turkey, particularly, cities Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir was scheduled for
October 2005.

“We also intend to undertake energy distribution network of Bishkek [the capital of Kyrgyzstan] for long-term management. Felex Kulov, the Prime-Minister of Kyrgyzstan, approved our project on management of the energy distribution network of Baku and Sumgayit. I’ll go to Kyrgyzstan soon. If the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan also approves the project, we will start its implementation,” he stressed.

Besides, Arabul said that Moldova will announce a tender on privatization of energy distribution networks soon, where the company plans to participate.
