SOCAR TO SEND JACKETS FOR EXPANSION OF GUNASHLI PLATFORM

The jackets will be delivered to the sea in early 2006 which will be used for expansion of sea stationary platform 11, installed in the Shallow Water Gunashli field developed by the SOCAR at own expense, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) told Trend.

At present the restoration of the jackets which were installed during the Soviet period on Chirag platform.

Upon completion of construction work the jackets will be shipped to barge and delivered to the place of appointment. The installation of the jacket is expected to take several months. The estate of the project is 60bn manats ($13m), of which 40bn manats has been spent thus far.

It is planned to drill 10 well from the new platform. At present production is carried out from 18 wells.

Development of field "Guneshli" is conducted since 1980. It is located to South-East from Apsheron peninsula and provides up to 65% of production of Azerbaijan oil and 83% of marine production of the state. Balance reserves of area are estimated at 94-130 mln tons of oil.
