SOCAR to repair platforms on Guneshli oil field

The SOCAR leadership has adopted the repair program of the Guneshli field platforms, the project has been prepared by the scientific- research institute Morneftegazprom, the SOCAR told Trend . Oil is currently extracted from 13 deep water platforms. They will be exploited for another 50 years according to the project.

The platforms have to be repaired because of the rough marine conditions and underwater streams. The major objective of the adopted program includes the annual repair of the two platforms and current repair of one of them. The plan has been implemented.

Guneshli -6 and Guneshli-9 platforms have been repaired according to the international standards in 2005. All underwater parts were checked and fixed by divers

Azneft, production association plans to repair 3 more platforms this year. They include Guneshli -2 platform, designed to drill 12 wells and installed at the depth of 96 meters in 1983, Guneshli- 3 in 1985 and Guneshli-10 in 1987. The last 2 platforms are installed at the depth of 110 meters and designed to drill 24 wells.

Besides, the program includes repair of the outdated constructions; change of the first and second decks, moorages, helicopter strips and living areas. SOCAR has provided necessary resources to finance these activities. Trust Kaspmorneftegazstroy will conduct the works. Guneshli -5, Guneshli-11 and Guneshli- 15 platforms will be repaired the next year. Documents and schedules are being prepared for the project.
