In January to August 2006 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Operating Companies (OC) and Joint Ventures (JV) produced 5 million 984.8 thousand tons oil from the onshore and offshore fields of the country, which is 6.4 th. tons more than 2005.
In this period the oil and gas production units (OGPU) of SOCAR produced totally 5 million 237.4 thousand tons of oil that is 7.6 th. tons (0.1%) less as compared 2005, the Company told Trend..
Over January-August 2006, foreign companies within the joint ventures (JV) and operating companies (OC) produced 747.4 th. tons oil, which is 1.2 th. tons (0.2%) more as compared 2005.
According to SOCAR, in 2006 the total gas production in Azerbaijan comprised 4 billion 434.68 million cu m, or 845.1 million cu m (23.5%) more as compared 2005. The oil and gas production units of SOCAR produced 2 billion 631.42 million cu m of gas, or 1029 million cu m more as compared 2005. JVs and OCs produced 75.36 million cu m gas in January-August, or 10.9 million cu m less than 2005. In this period the Azerbaijani International operating Company (AIOC) produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field 1 billion 689.46 million cu m of associated gas, or 714.7 million cu m more as compared 2005.
There 57 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan, including 18 in offshore ones. Staff of the SOCAR is 59,170 people.
