Rovnag Abdulayev, the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said that the establishment of Azeri Drilling Company Ltd. by SOCAR will enable them to drill deep wells. At present SOCAR specialists are involved in the possible development of perspective gas field Bahar-2. However, it is necessary to drill deep wells, Trend reports.
It is very difficult to carry out this work with outdated technology. The wells that SOCAR has drilled in 2 years using outdated technology, JV are able to do in 5 months, Abdullayev stated.
The first wells will be drilled with deepwater jackets on 8 Mart field. In total, it is planned to drill 10 wells.
By mid-2007 the drilling of 3 wells will be completed and the daily debit of each well is expected to comprise of 300,000 - 400,000 cu.m. of gas.
Azeri Drilling Company Ltd is nearing completion of the mobilization equipment for drilling its first well in 8 Mart'. The well with the project depth of 5,800 meters will be drilled with deepwater jacket 759 on 8 Mart' field.
Azeri Drilling Company JV was founded by SOCAR (35%), British Firstdrill Ltd (30%) and Target Petroleum (35%) companies.
The company is involved in drilling oil and gas wells (including horizontal and special drilling), cementing and consolidation of wells, assimilation, overall and underground repair, geophysical researches and perforation.
The key task of JV is to carry out drilling work on 8 Mart' and Bulla Daniz fields with the several advanced jackets
