Oil&Gas Materials 20 October 2006 17:17 (UTC +04:00)

A delivery-acceptance of the Baku and Sumgayit Electricity Supply Networks from Barmek Holding is expected to be completed in a day or two, Mikail Jabbarov, deputy Azerbaijan`s Economic Development Minister told Trend today. The situation with the delivery-acceptance of the networks is pity today. The reason is that the lists with the assets that are deficient have already been prepared, and our expectations have turned to be real. The assets are lacking in a great volume, and the exact sum of the damage is expected to be determined as soon as the delivery-acceptance is completed. And I can tell you it is a matter of a large amount, pointed out the Deputy Minister.

According to him, in accordance with the agreement available, we shall require to repay the costs on the non-returned (deficient) assets. We are not exceeding the frames of the agreement, and if the company accepts our proposals on the refunding the money, then it will pass without a suit, otherwise we shall resolve this issue in the court. As far back as in June, 2006, when we found some violations, and we came with a lawsuit against the company. However, the sum has not been defined more precisely said Mr. Jabbarov. He does not rule out that it will be a matter of legal proceedings and it will be likely to holding legal proceedings abroad. Today, the company is kept completely informed about a lack of transformers, transmission lines, and other deficient assets.

Notably, the Baku distributing networks was handled over to Barmek Holding`s management in 2000, the Sumgayit in 2002.
