BP Azerbaijan Announced the Volumes of the Light Oil Average Daily Piping via BTC Pipeline in 2007

Oil&Gas Materials 28 October 2006 12:13 (UTC +04:00)

500.000 barrels of oil per day in average are expected to be piped via the pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) from the field Azeri-Chiragh-Gunashli. Fifty thousand barrels more might be piped at the expense of the gas condensate from the field Shakhdaniz, David Woodward, President of BP Azerbaijan, told Trend.

According to him, if the pipeline pipes the oil of the company ChevronTexaco, then the volume of the piping might increase by 100.000 barrels a day. In addition, the pipeline could pipe Azerbaijani oil produced in the other fields.

The next year, the pipeline will reach its project capacity at 1 mln. barrels a day. If this volume of the piping is kept, that will allow shipping oil into 1-2 tankers a day in the Turkish Port of Ceyhan. It is impossible yet, since the gas aimed at fueling gas injection stations, is to be supplied from the field Shakhdaniz. That will take place in a couple of months.

Up to date, the highest volume of the piping had made up 520.000 barrels a day. This figure was achieved in September, 2006. Over the first three quarters of the year, BTC`s investments, including the cost of oil filing to the pipeline, as well as financing made up $834 mln. According to our forecasts, this year, the total volume of investments to BTC will reach $932 mln.
