A Ukrainian Gas-Processing Plant to Buy Azerbaijani Light Oil

The Shebelin Gas-Processing Plant, a subsidiary of company UkrGasDobycha is expected to buy light brands of Azerbaijani oil at a volume of 500 th. tons of oil per year, till 2008. The program on diversification of sources of oil delivery to Ukraine considered for 2015, which was approved by an order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, on November 8, 2006 announced it, Trend reports referring to RBK-Ukraine.

A general agreement between Ukraine and Azerbaijan on cooperation in the oil and gas field, as well as the corresponding agreement between National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on long-term cooperation in the oil and gas production on Azerbaijani fields is expected to be signed till the end of 2007.

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has commissioned to hold negotiations with Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Russia on possibilities to export Caspian oil to Ukraine, as well as its further transit to European countries via Ukraine, with Kazakhstan on stabilization and increase of export volumes of Kazakhstan oil via territory of Ukraine, with Iraq and Turkey on organization of Iraq oil carrying via the territory of Turkey to the Black Sea Ports of Ukraine.

The document also stipulates modernization and reconstruction of the oil refinery plants to bring the depth of oil refinery up to 80%, as well as construction of new modern oil refineries with the depth of oil refinery not less than 95% till 2010, and launching oil production abroad.
