Azerbaijan says that it is necessary to keep on working at the mechanism on redistribution of gas to be produced from Azerbaijan offshore gas condensate field, Shahdaniz which is to be redistributed among Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia.
Natig Aliyev, Azerbaijan Industry and Energy Minister, said that it is necessary to clear up compensation mechanism. There are some issues and irregularities, and therefore it is necessary to keep on working on this project, Trend reports.
According to him, there is no need in holding a meeting among the Energy Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey on the gas redistribution issue.
We have already has a preliminary agreement on this issue. However, it is necessary to appraise it once more. The need in holding a new meeting might arise as a result of it, he said.
During the recent visit of Georgia President Mikhail Saakashvili to Turkey, the meeting between Georgia Energy Minister, Nikalos Gilauri and Khilmi Guler, Turkey Energy Minister was held. During the meeting, the preliminary agreement on Turkey sharing part of its quota in Shahdaniz Project with Georgia was reached, said the Minister.
