AIOC May Repair Some Sections of Baku-Supsa Pipeline

AIOC (Azerbaijan International Operating Company) may replace some sections of the Baku-Supsa pipeline on the Georgian territory, Trend reports.

The forthcoming replacing sections of the pipeline will be held within carrying out the repair work, which have been launched since the end of 2006. The work is being carried out on a 150-km section on the territory of Georgia.

According to the Corrosion due to some peculiarities of the Georgian territories where the pipeline is laid is on of the most probable reasons of the forthcoming replacement.

The volume of AIOC oil produced from Chiragh Field, and previously exported via the Baku-Supsa Pipeline, has been redirected to the Northern Route (Baku-Novorossiysk Pipeline) and by railways in the direction to the Georgian Black Sea Port of Batumi.

60,000 tons of oil to be received from the pipeline may be shipped from the Georgian Port of Supsa in March, 2007, said the source.
