Azerbaijan and   Iran don’t Agree on Transport of Turkmen Gas

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / Azerbaijan and Iran could not reach an agreement on joint work with regards to transport of Turkmen gas. The high-ranking representative of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said that the talks on the possibility to transport Turkmen gas to Europe via Azerbaijan and Iran ended without results.

"The talks continued for six months, but the Iranian side categorically acted against the transit of Turkmen gas via its territory," SOCAR's representative said.

According to the representative, Iran only expressed its intention to purchase and sell Turkmen gas. The gas pipeline Gazi-Mammad-Astara-Bind-Biand is routed between Azerbaijan and Iran.
