Oil&Gas Materials 14 July 2007 14:14 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aliyev / Baku Electricity Network OJSC, which manages distribution network of Baku, will complete a pilot project on setting of electricity-meters, the Deputy Chairman of Board of the company, Zaur Huseynov, said.

The key difference of the new meters made by British AMPY company is the possibility to control them by subscribers of GSM system. That will enable the subscribers to fill their balance and use other services. New meters (the old ones will be removed) will be set up at the expense of Baku Electricity Network. New subscribers (new enterprises etc.) will set the meters at their own expense. The new system also enables distance control (from Baku Electricity Network), decrease in lost in the network, prevention of illegal use of electric energy. Another advantage is possibility to set them up in any networks, despite technical state.

Some 103,150 of meters were set up in Baku (28,150 single-phase and 75,000 three-phase).
