US Publicizes oil Cargo Import from Azerbaijan in 2007

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend V.Sharifov / Since the beginning of 2007 the United States has imported 8.16mln barrels of oil and oil products from Azerbaijan, according to the energy information administration of the US Energy Ministry. In June import of oil cargo from Azerbaijan made up 1.736mln barrels, or 269,000 barrels less than May.

In 2006 the United States has purchased 10mln barrels of Azerbaijani oil and oil products compared to 563,000 barrels in 2005. In 2004 this figure was 484,000 barrels.

Azerbaijani oil is exported from the Georgian port of Supsa, where oil is transported via the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline доставляется. At present this pipeline is being repaired and it will last by the end the year. Oil is also exported from the Georgian port of Batumi, where it is delivered by rail from Baku. Another route for oil export is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline which supplies oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. The route was commissioned in 2005.
