McDermott to Participate in Construction of new gas pipeline in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend U.Ismayilova / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) intends to double production of gas in 2007 under a problem on increase of gas production. By 2008 gas production by SOCAR is designed to comprise 8bln cu m.

It is also planned to construct a new 66.5km pipeline with the discharge capacity of up to 5.5mln cu m a year, which ranges from a gas distribution place Oil Rocks to the Bahar field. A total of 126 carriages of pipes have been supplied from Greece.

This is the third gas pipeline in this route, which will be built in a distance of 50-100m of the first pipeline and laid in the depth of 10-30m. The project was designed by the Oil and Gas Projects Institute. NeftGasTikinti is a general contractor and McDermott - subcontractor. The construction is scheduled to complete by the end of the year. Pipes were supplied to EUPEC for concrete covering.
