Second Eurasian Energy Forum KazEnergy to be Held in Astana

Kazakhstan, Astana / Trend corr. К.Кonirova / The second KazEnergy Eurasian Energy Forum will be held in the SAS Radisson Hotel in Astana on 6 and 7 September, the press-service of KazMunayGas reported.

The forum is being held by KazEnergy the Kazakh Association of organizations of the oil and energy sector with the support and participation of Kazakhstan, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Environment Security Ministry of Kazakhstan, Industry and Trade Ministry, Kazakhstan Holding on State Assets Management of Samruk, KazMunayGas, Shevron Munaygas Ink and other organizations.

"The goal of the forum is to discuss actual issues on the development of oil and energy, survey of analytical information, development of proposals and recommendations, co-ordination of general approach to create efficient legislative mechanisms and practice instruments of functioning in the economy," stated a press-release distributed by the company.

Prime Minister Karim Masimov and Timur Kulibov, the chairman of KazEnergy Association, will participate at the forum.

Vladimir Shkolnik, the deputy head of the Presidential Administration, Sauat Minbayev, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Marat Tajin, the Foreign Minister, Krimbay Kushurbayov, the head of Mangistau province, Etchitson, the deputy managing director of Chevron International Exploration and Production, E Chou, the senior director of the energy department of the Strategic Research Centre of the US, and L Afflex, the president of BG International Ltd Kazakhstan, will report during the first stage of the forum.

The forum will continue with discussions on issues including 'Major trends of development in the oil sphere', 'Social and ecological aspects of development and energy drafts in Kazakhstan and 'Present state and prospects of energy development in Kazakhstan.

The heads of the Transport and Communication Ministry of Kazakhstan, the Agriculture Ministry, the Labor and Social Security Ministry, the Education and Science Ministry, the head of Kzilordin District of Kazakhstan, the Fund of Sustainable Development of Kazin, local offices of the World bank and the European Commission, as well as heads of big foreign and local companies and foreign financial, analytical and scientific establishments will deliver reports. A news conference will be held during the break to answer questions from Kazakh and foreign journalists.

The second day of the forum, 7 September, will be dedicated to meetings of working groups. The discussions will focus on export routes for transportation of Kazakh hydrocarbons, training specialists for oil gas and electric power fields, the increase ofKazakhoil and gas projects, the issue of energy security and many others.

The final event of the forum will be the media workshop of KazEnergy with participation of representatives from the press-service of the President of Kazakhstan, Information and Culture Ministry, editor-in-chiefs of foreign and local media and corporate press-services.

The first Eurasian Energy Forum was held in Astana on 6 and 7 September 2006. About 200 delegate representatives from state bodies, heads of oil and energy companies and experts and analysts from different countries took part in the forum.

As a result of a proposal by theAssociation of KazMunayGas the issue to support an initiative to create a state international commission on oil development and fuel-energy complex was discussed at the forum.

The association supported the adoption of the Eurasian pact of energy stability, as well as a pact of stability in Caspian Sea.
