Kazakhstan to Produce 140mln Tons of Oil in 2015 – Prime Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr V. Sharifov / Oil production in Kazakhstan could amount to 140mln tons in 2015, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Karim Masimov, said in Astana on 6 September.

According to him, it is planned to produce 67mln tons of oil in 2007. "Within 15 years oil production has increased 2.5 times in Kazakhstan and one third in the world," he said.

According to Masimov, over $50bln foreign investments has been put in Kazakhstan since 1993, with half of them in the oil and gas sector.

Kazakhstan is viewing many export routes for its oil. "Linking to Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan is being considered. Work on the route of Kazakhstan-China is very important," the Prime Minister said.
