In the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), Iran imported 567 tons of bottle caps with a total value of over $2.98 million, Mizan News Agency reported referring to Iran's Customs Administration.

Bottle caps were imported from 22 countries, including the UAE, China, Turkey, Germany, France, Canada and Egypt.

The UAE, with 197 tons or $801,986, accounted for the largest share of the imports.

Due to a strong devaluation and US sanctions imposed on Iran in early November, Iranian experts do not approve of the "unnecessary" imports and suggest to import only the essential goods, such as foodstuff and raw materials.
