By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

In April 2019 in Kazakhstan the volume of deposits increased by 0.4 percent (+32 billion tenge) and as at May 1, 2019 the deposit base of physical persons amounted to 8.6 trillion tenge, Trend reports via Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund.

"During April 2019, the portfolio of tenge denominated savings deposits increased by 26 percent (+27 billion tenge), whereas the non-time deposits increased by only 2.8 percent. The number of depositors amounted to 31,800 people," the statement said.

"The largest increase in the structure of deposits accounts for tenge-denominated deposits with the increase of 155 billion tenge compared to March 2019," reads the message.

"The largest source of the increase is the mass segment, i.e. deposits less than 20 million tenge (99.9 percent of physical persons deposits). In turn, the decrease by 123 billion tenge is observed in the structure of currency deposits of physical persons," the report said.

“Compared to the same period of last year, the deposit base of the physical persons deposits expanded by four percent. The increase of the deposits volume is also due to the nine-percent increase of tenge-denominated deposits,' the statement said.

"As at May 1, 2019 the dollarization level of physical persons deposits also decreased down to 43 percent," reads the message.

"The unequal distribution of foreign currency denominated deposits is also observed: the percentage of foreign currency denominated deposits in the mass segment is 24 percent, whereas the volume of same type deposits in the large deposits segments is 71 percent," the source said.
