Today, over three million units of both national and international plastic cards are in circulation in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to Neytralni Turkmenistan newspaper.
Banks of the country have established mutually beneficial cooperation with leading international companies "Visa Card", "MasterCard", "Western Union" and "SWIFT".
The use of their payment systems in Turkmenistan creates an opportunity to make payments during business and tourist trips abroad, as well as to make cashless payments for goods and services, the article says.
It is also noted that local plastic cards "Altyn Asyr" and "Millikart" are in demand among the population. Students, teachers, doctors, industrial workers and retirees actively use the services of cashless payments using bank cards.
Lending institutions issue new types of bank cards "Goýum bank card" and "Maşgala card", which allow customers to receive additional income in the form of interest on balances on deposit accounts, the newspaper said.
Commercial banks of the country continue their active work on the introduction of advanced methods of organizing cashless payments. The joint-stock commercial bank "Rysgal" in the near future plans to launch a system of payment for purchases using QR codes (quick response code), Neytralni Turkmenistan reads.
With the help of Internet banking and mobile banking, customers of credit institutions can make online payments for IPTV services, mobile operators and the Internet, payment of principal and interest on loans received from banks in the country.
