Money transfers from Russia to Kazakhstan down by over 20%

During August 2019, Kazakhs made 234,800 money transfers worth 62.815 billion tenge via international money-transfer systems, which is 1.4 percent less compared to last month, Trend reports with reference to the data of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

Some 66,100 transfers worth 17.620 billion tenge were sent from Kazakhstan to Russia, which is two percent less than last month.

It is followed by transfers to Uzbekistan (82,100 transfers worth 16.620 billion tenge) and Kyrgyzstan (30,200 transfers worth 8.556 billion tenge). The value of transfers sent to these countries decreased by 5.6 percent and increased by 2.6 percent respectively compared to July.

The transactions were mostly implemented using KoronaPay (Zolotaya Korona) payment system (170,300 transfers), Western Union (16,100 transfers) and Faster (15,600 transfers).

In turn, the number of transfers to Kazakhstan from other countries equaled 143,300 transfers worth 29.498 billion tenge, which is 1.4 percent less than last month.

The leading position by value of the transfers to Kazakhstan accounted for Russia (64,200 transfers worth 9.108 million tenge). The value of transfers was down by 21.6 percent compared to July 2019.

It is followed by transfers from South Korea (16,700 transfers worth 6.192 billion tenge) and Uzbekistan (5,800 transfers worth 2.439 billion tenge). The value of these transfers was up by 10.5 percent and 3.4 percent respectively during the reporting period.

The transfers were mostly implemented via Western Union (51,500 transfers), KoronaPay (45,700 transfers) and MoneyGram (12,500 transfers).
