Total volume of non-bank deposits in Georgia's banking sector increases

The total volume of non-bank deposits in the Georgian banking sector increased by 1.10 percent or by 279.6 million lari ($95 million) on October 1, 2019 compared to September 1, 2019, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

The total volume of non-bank deposits constituted 25.6 billion lari ($8.7 billion) on October 1, 2019.

In September, the volume of term deposits increased by 5.6 million lari ($1.9 million) or by 0.05 percent; exchange rate effect excluded volume of term deposits decreased by 0.13 percent.

Demand deposits increased by 274 million lari ($93.1 million) or by 1.86 percent; exchange rate effect excluded volume of demand deposits increased by 1.78 percent.

The market interest rate on term deposits constituted 5.07 percent. In particular, the market interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 7.64 percent and the market interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits was 2.68 percent.

The share of the dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals 84.89 percent and the share of the euro equals 13.52 percent.
