Inflation up in Uzbekistan

Average prices and tariffs in the consumer market increased by 2.8 percent in Uzbekistan, from January through March 2020, Trend reports citing Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In Uzbekistan, the increase in the average level of consumer prices and tariffs for March 2020 amounted to 1.3 percent against 0.8 percent in February 2020.

In annual terms (by March 2019), the average growth in prices for goods and services was 13.6 percent.

Food products rose by 1.9 percent in March 2020, while non-food products added 0.9 percent in price and services - 0.8 percent.

In March 2019, food products became more expensive by 1.5 percent. Non-food products rose in price by 0.8 percent and services by 1.2 percent over the same period.

The official gold and foreign exchange reserves at the beginning of 2020 amounted to $29.1 billion. International reserves amounted to $28.6 billion.

Uzbekistan's reserves are mainly distributed between US dollars ($12.4 billion) and gold ($16.3 billion).
