Georgian National Bank releases statistics on transactions by bank cards

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has released statistics on the volume of transactions carried out by the bank cards in April 2020, Trend reports referring to NBG.

The volume of payments made through POS terminals decreased by 138 million lari ($43.2 million) compared to March and amounted to 675 million lari ($211.5 million) in April.

In February, the figure reached 781 million lari ($244.7 million) in February and increased up to 813 million lari ($254.7 million) in March.

According to the bank, this figure reached a peak in December 2019, having amounted to 930 million lari ($291.4 million).

The rate increased by 10 percent year-on-year, said the bank.

In turn, the volume of payments made via the internet decreased year-on-year. In April 2020, banks served internet transactions worth 251 million lari ($78.6 million) in total, which is 18 percent less comparing to the same period in 2019.
