Licenses issued for cryptocurrency production in Iran

As many as 500 licenses have been issued for the establishment of 500 industrial enterprises on production of cryptocurrency in Iran so far, Deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Saeed Zarandi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

Zarandi expressed confidence that activities of these enterprises will help Iran's foreign trade and ensure the country's foreign currency exchange.

He added that at present, cryptocurrency mining (cryptomining) equipment is legally imported into the country.

The deputy minister said that according to the decision of the economic commission of the Iranian government, cryptocurrency mining equipment illegally imported to Iran shall be legalized before they are allowed to operate.

Iran officially announced that the country started producing cryptocurrency called Peyman in January 2019. Two kilograms of gold was provided as a reserve for this currency. Peyman cryptocurrency is sold to customers based on the price of gold.
