The money supply in Uzbekistan increased by 8.7 percent in the period from January through May 2020 and reached 99.2 trillion soum ($9.7 billion), Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
In particular, money supply in the national currency grew by 10 percent to 69 trillion soum ($6.7 billion) in the period from January through May 2020, and the volume of cash in circulation grew by 16.5 percent to 28.2 trillion soum ($2.7 billion).
Deposits in national currency increased by six percent to 40.8 trillion soum (over $4 billion) compared to the same period of 2019.
Foreign currency deposits increased by six percent in the period from January through May 2020, to 30.2 trillion soum (about $3 billion).
The total money supply in Uzbekistan grew by 13.8 percent by 2019 compared to 2018 and reached 91.3 trillion soum (8.9 billion), including in national currency - by 14.4 percent to 62.8 trillion soum ($6.1 billion).
As of May 1,2020, the total money supply was amounted to almost 94.8 trillion soum ($9.3 billion).
