The capital of state-owned banks in Iran amounted to 820 trillion rials (about $19.5 billion) in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran.

According to the report, while this figure was 200 trillion rials (about $4.76 billion) in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020).

“The capital of private banks in Iran in the current Iranian year amounted to 160 trillion rials (about $3.8 billion),” the report said.

However, this figure was 300 trillion rials (about $7.14 billion) in the last Iranian year.

According to the report, one of the main reforms in the banking system over the past few years has been the sale of additional properties of the banks.

"In this regard, the sales value of additional properties of Iranian banks amounted to 280 trillion rials (about $6.66 billion) from March 21, 2017, to August 21, 2020," the report noted.

The sales value of the additional properties of the banks in Iran amounted to about 130 trillion rials (about $3.09 billion) in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020), the report added.

According to the report, the number of bank branches in Iran continues to be reduced. This, 903 branches of state-owned and private banks were reduced in Iran in the last Iranian year.

“It is planned to reduce 735 bank branches in Iran in the current Iranian year, and 1,395 branches next Iranian year (from March 21, 2021, to March 21, 2022)," the report said.
