Georgia reveals volume of premiums attracted by insurance companies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.25

Health insurance premiums attracted by Georgian insurance companies in 6 months of 2020 amounted to 171.4 million lari ($52.6 million) that is 25.75 million lari ($7.9 million) more than in the same period of last year (145.65 million lari or $44.7 million in 2Q2019), Trend reports via Georgian media.

The rating of Georgian insurance companies by the volume of health insurance premiums in 6 months of 2020 is different from the same period of the previous year.

Imedi L, which held 36 percent of the market last year, has slipped to second place, in favor of GPI Holding.

Top 5 companies which hold 79 percent of the market by a volume of the health insurance premiums attracted in the first 6 months of the year:

GPI Holding - 29 percent;
Imedi L - 23 percent;
Ardi Insurance - 14 percent;
PSP Insurance - 7 percent;
International Insurance Company IRAO - 6 percent.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2019 a 83 percent share by health insurance premiums was held by:

Imedi L - 36 percent;
GPI Holding - 22 percent;
Ardi Insurance - 13 percent;
International Insurance Company IRAO - 6 percent;
PSP Insurance - 6 percent.
