The volume of money spent on exploration operations in Iran’s mining sector increased by 35.7 percent during the first six months of this year (from March 20 through September 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.
According to the report, about 575 billion rials (about $13.6 million) was spent on the exploration operations over the reporting period.
"Within six months, 242 licenses were issued on exploration operations. The number of licenses increased by 1.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year," the report added.
In addition, the licenses were issued to launch 308 mines in 6 months. The number of issued licenses increased by 7.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, the report noted.
According to the report, 2,540 people were employed with the issuance of the licenses for six months. There is a decrease of 2.2 percent in terms of employment compared to the same period last Iranian year.
