Iran reveals data on new enterprises in free trade zones

As many as 42 enterprises were licensed to be established in Iran's Free Trade Zones during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2020), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Industry Mine and Trade of Iran.

According to the statistics, this is a decrease of about 73 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 155 enterprises were licensed to be established in the free trade zones of Iran in the same period last Iranian year.

“The mentioned zones in the statistics are Aras Trade-Industrial Free Zone, Arvand Free Trade Zone, Anzali Free Trade Zone, Chabahar Free Trade Zone, Kish Free Trade Zone, Maku Free Trade Zone and etc.,” the statistics said.

It is planned to be invested about 19.8 trillion rials (about $471 million) into the enterprises licensed to be established within 6 months, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the volume of investments decreased by 95 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 393 trillion rials (about $9.35 billion) worth of investments were planned for the licensed enterprises in the same period last Iranian year.

About 2,200 people are envisaged to be employed at the enterprises licensed for six months. The employment decreased by 76.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, it was planned to be employed about 9,360 people at the enterprises licensed in the same period last Iranian year,

A total of 12,800 enterprises were licensed to be established in Iran during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2020) with an investment of 2.25 quadrillion rials (about $53.5 billion).

In general, 410,000 people are envisaged to be employed at the enterprises licensed within 6 months. The number of issued licenses increased by 46.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. This resulted in an increase of 42.5 percent in terms of investments and 36.3 percent in terms of employment.
