Money transfers to Georgia up in December 2020

Georgia received $199.7 million from abroad in December 2020, which is 15.9 percent more than the amount in December 2019, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia.

Russia ($40.71 million), Italy ($31.82 million) and the United States ($22.31 million) was the largest remittance senders in December 2020.

Overall, the vast majority (95 percent) of all money transfers from abroad came from 19 countries.

After Russia, Italy and, the United States other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in December 2020 included Greece - $22.42 million, Israel – $15.52 million, Ukraine – $9.51 million, Turkey – $9.90 million, Germany – $8.32 million, Azerbaijan – $5.79 million, Spain – $4.76 million, France – $3.23 million, Poland – $2.64 million, United Kingdom – $1.96 million, Kazakhstan – $2.85 million, Canada – $1.76 million, Ireland - $1.92 million, Cyprus – $1.12 million.

Last month, remittances leaving Georgia totaled $24.7 million, which is 3.4 percent less as compared to December 2019
