Georgian ProCredit Bank develops special financing program to help customers, developers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.4

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian ProCredit Bank has developed a special financing program to help customers and developers build and purchase sustainable energy-efficient buildings, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The initiative aims to finance green construction under attractive conditions (standard -0.5 percent).

To assist companies interested in obtaining EDGE certification, the bank has decided to partner with Sintali-SGS, a consortium of two international companies that act as an EDGE global certification provider for IFC. Sintali-SGS will help companies successfully navigate the EDGE certification process. Through this partnership, ProCredit customers will also benefit from special discounts from Sintali-SGS to undergo EDGE certification.

There are many benefits to building green. Certified green buildings have a higher property value and lower operational costs. The advantages of the green building also include a stronger brand and increased market visibility, as well as increased interest from international investors, the ability to obtain financing at a special interest rate, and third-party verification of a company’s social responsibility.

ProCredit Bank Georgia is part of the international ProCredit group, which operates mainly in Eastern and South-Eastern European countries with transition economies, as well as in Germany. ProCredit Bank Georgia has been operating in the Georgian banking sector since 1999.

Sintali and SGS work together to act as an EDGE global certification partner. Operating as a one-stop-shop for EDGE certification and audit services, Sintali-SGS delivers the highest quality service for clients around the world.

An innovation of IFC (part of the World Bank Group), EDGE helps property developers to build and brand green in a fast, easy, and affordable way. EDGE is supported by free software that encourages solutions to reduce energy, water, and the energy used to make building materials by at least 20 percent, which is the standard for EDGE certification.

IFC, a sister organization of the World Bank and member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets.
