Roadmap to be prepared for cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan

A roadmap will be prepared to enhance trade cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing website of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

In this regard, a webinar was held at the initiative of the ICCIMA on "Researching of the trade potential and opportunities of Iran and Kazakhstan".

During the webinar, the Deputy Chairman of ICCIMA, Mohammad Reza Karbasi said that Iran and Kazakhstan can invest jointly in agriculture, technical and engineering services areas.

According to Karbasi, Iran can use Kazakhstan's economic potential as a regional center to increase exports to other countries.

The deputy chairman added that the Iranian businessmen will be able to diversify their exports to Kazakhstan after the removing of barriers on trade relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the webinar, the Chairman of the Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Chamber of Commerce Amir Abedi said that Kazakhstan is a strategic country located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. There are great opportunities for investment and investors in this country, and there are opportunities for railways and also access to the region's market.

The trade turnover between Iran and Kazakhstan amounted to 273,000 tons worth $135 million during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020).

So, Iran exported 207,000 tons of goods worth $109 million to Kazakhstan and imported 66,000 tons of goods worth $25.5 million from Kazakhstan over the reporting period.
