Decrease in bank lending observed in Baku and Azerbaijani districts

Bank lending in Baku and districts of Azerbaijan as of early February 2021 amounted to over 14.2 billion manat ($8.3 billion), which is by six percent less than as of early February 2020, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan's statistics bulletin on Feb. 24.

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, as of early February 2021, the loans worth 11.4 billion manat ($823 million) were issued in Baku, which is by almost four times more than in the districts. At the same time, 7.2 billion manat that’s $4.2 billion (63.8 percent of total lending in Baku) accounted for the loans in the national currency in Baku.

The average annual interest rate on loans in Azerbaijan as of early February 2021 was 11.16 percent while in Baku - 9.33 percent.
